At a certain price point, a cigar stops being a simple smoke and becomes an experience worth savoring. Premium cigars above $20 represent the upper tier of the craft — where master blenders use aged, carefully sourced tobaccos, apply meticulous construction techniques, and draw on decades of tradition to produce something genuinely exceptional. The difference between a budget smoke and a premium one isn't just marketing; it shows up in the complexity of flavor, the consistency of the draw, and the way the cigar evolves from the first third to the final inch. When evaluating cigars at this level, pay attention to wrapper quality, construction uniformity, burn behavior, and the depth of flavor notes — from earthy and spicy to creamy, sweet, and beyond. Whether you're building a personal collection or simply looking for the best experience your money can buy, understanding what separates good from great is the foundation of a more rewarding relationship with the leaf.
